Two Caribbean-related articles today at Global Voices:
- Nicholas “Nikipedia” Laughlin writes about the blogosphere’s reaction to the passing of Jamaica’s beloved “Miss Lou”
- I write about the efforts by a portion of the blogosphere to verify the authenticity of Fidel Castro’s 80th birthday photos, which were released yesterday
Rebecca MacKinnon also writes about BlogDay, which will be celebrated on August 31, 2006. Quoting BlogDay’s founder, who wrote recently that:
BlogDay is a celebration of people and for people. It is a celebration of the ability to visit blogs that are different from our own culture, point of view and attitude and it is a celebration of free content written by people like you and me. . . .
Rebecca outlines the guidelines for celebrating BlogDay and invites bloggers to write BlogDay-specific posts on list of topics, and to link to the post at Global Voices. Come on, Caribbean bloggers — let’s do something for BlogDay, nah.
And last but not least, I’ve stolen the title for this post from the often witty and extremely helpful digest edition of GV that good ol’ Oso prepares for Global Voices — Oso reads everything so you don’t have to — and which you too can start receiving by clicking here.
