This evening I posted my 500th entry at Global Voices. As my late grandfather George Popplewell (after whom I was named) used to say: tempus fugit. Who’s taking me to lunch?
In other GV-related news, the We Media Global Forum takes place on May 3-4 in London. The theme this year is “The Power of Trust”. Here’s the program. A number of Global Voices bloggers will be present and our managing editor Rachel Rawlins and GV co-founder Rebecca MacKinnon will be involved in the Asia and China, We the World | South Asia, and We the World | Africa panels. My GV co-editor Neha Viswanathan is on the South Asia panel as well. If I haven’t mentioned the Caribbean component of the forum that’s because there isn’t one. Not to worry–our day will come. . . . And we’ll have everything.
Those of us not in London can toss Rebecca, Rachel and Neha some hard questions via web cast, live audio feed or a very nifty live chat interface powered by Mapable Technologies. I’m logged in there at the moment and a Google map below the chat pane shows a green drawing pin hovering above the north-east coat of Venezuela with my username and a T&T flag next to it.

my grandmothers brother name was George Popplewell from Trinidad. Is it possible we’re related?
Comment by Milissa Russelburn 12.18.08 @ 3:14 pmYep, we’re related alright. Your grandmother must be Myra, then.
Comment by Georgia 12.23.08 @ 6:13 pmYes. That’s correct. Nice to meet family. I see how much of an entrepreneur you are. Keep up the great work.
