Have blog, will travel? Bloggers are apparently among the invitees at a press conference and networking session being hosted next week in New York by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO). According to the International Association of Online Communications (IAOC) blog:
Ministers and Directors of Tourism from the Caribbean will be addressing "What's New and Hot in the Caribbean." Each representative will have a few moments to discuss the their plans for 2006, followed by a Q & A session. Following the press conference, bloggers are invited to join a "Networking Cocktail Reception," which provides an opportunity for bloggers interested in travel writing to connect with a lot of Caribbean destinations in a single meeting.
I’ve often wondered, in fact, if one could make a case for free municipal wi-fi by reminding the governments of tourist economies of all the free publicity they could get from laptop-toting tourist bloggers. . . .

I can think of better places to be than New York in February!
Comment by Georgia 02.02.06 @ 6:28 pmApparently this is the best idea the tourism ministries worldwide have been able to come up with in ages. And like so many ideas, they are all copying each other…. blogads is sending a bunch of B list bloggers from the US to Amsterdam. Why? Because they think it will be cool. I think its boring. We’ve got bloggers right here in Amsterdam who report about things everyday. Tourism board… bah. humbug.
