Gayelle now saying 10-11 people injured, though injuries not life threatening. Minister of National Security Martin Joseph has arrived on the scene and Health Minister John Rahael has gone to the Port of Spain General Hospital. Gayelle (whose anchor, Paolo Kernahan, just apologised for not showing more video from the scene by reminding us that Gayelle “is not CNN”) is awaiting a statement from the hospital.

Kernahan is saying that if there’s anything to be thankful for about this incident, it’s that the blast didn’t take place later in the evening, when there would have been even more people in the area. St. James, by the way, is Trinidad’s “city that never sleeps” and a major hub of after-hours activity.
